Surgeon smiling at the cameraMr Hussam Muntasser, Glaucoma Surgeon, and his team have become one of the first teams in the UK to offer our patients the eyeWatch surgical procedure.

Glaucoma Drainage Devices (GDD) are regularly used for the treatment of glaucoma, but the drainage flow can’t be adjusted and can lead to further operation procedures to be undertaken to change the GDD. This puts additional pressure on ophthalmic theatres, is costly and can cause discomfort for the patient from the invasive surgery.

The eyeWatch GDD is the world’s first adjustable glaucoma drainage implant. It allows surgeons to control the inter ocular pressure post op in clinic with a magnetic pen to adjust how the fluid in the eye flows around the eye in an efficient, painless, and non-invasive way.

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that can cause vision loss and blindness by damaging a nerve in the back of your eye called the optic nerve. It is one of the leading causes of blindness in adults over the age of 60.
